A staple of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Prix de West will run from June 7 – August 4, 2013.

Walters, now in his sixteenth year with the show, will display three pieces this year. The panoramic 26″x54″ “First Touch of Winter” reveals moody storm clouds over the sun-dappled mountains of Sedona. “November Wind,” a signature Grand Canyon piece, measures 28″x22″. A smaller painting, “Eiteljorg Road: Taos,” captures a fragment of a dusty road under endless New Mexico sky.

The artist has become a fan favorite, winning four Nona Jean Hulsey Buyers’ Choice awards in that time. In 2007, Walters won the Prix de West Purchase Award for his painting, “Spring’s Caprice,” which now hangs in the museum. He is also a two-time recipient of the Frederic Remington Award.

On Friday, June 7, Walters will be part of the “Here We Go Again!” seminar with fellow artists John and Terri Kelly Moyers. This event is scheduled to start at 2:00pm.

The art auction begins at 7:30pm the following evening, Saturday, June 8th.

Known as the “Greatest Living Grand Canyon Artist,” it’s no surprise that Walters will also be part of the 5th annual Grand Canyon Celebration of Art, which begins September 14th, 2013.

Walters is a multi-award winning artist from many of the nation’s top Western Art shows, including Masters of the American West at the Autry National Center in Los AngelesQuest for the West at the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, and the American Mastersshow at the infamous Salmagundi Club in New York City. His artwork is collected by museums, foundations, educational institutions and celebrities.

Walters’ paintings can be purchased at Trailside Galleries of Scottsdale, Arizona and Jackson, Wyoming, the Claggett/Rey Gallery of Vail, Colorado, the Nedra Metteucci Galleries of Santa Fe, New Mexico and can be viewed on his website: http://curtwalters.com.
