September Afternoon at Lake O’Hara

Artwork by Curt Walters

36″ x 36″

This painting was the recipient of the Victor Higgins Work of Distinction given for the best individual work in the Quest for the West exhibition in 2007. It also won the Patrons’ Choice Award that same night.

Canada’s Lake O’Hara, in Yoho National Park, is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever painted. The amazing Lefroy glacier, a sparkling sheet of ice, forms the Seven Sisters Falls which cascade into the emerald green lake below. The deep water is full of centuries of fallen pines which add to the wildness of the place.
