‘Master Painter’ Curt Walters, of Sedona, Arizona, will have a one man show at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, in Indianapolis, Indiana, set to begin August 19, 2009.  “Monuments & Moments:  The Plein Air and Studio Paintings of Curt Walters” will be curated by James Nottage, Chief Curator of the Eiteljorg Museum.

“Monuments & Moments” will feature many of the artist’s signature Grand Canyon and Southwestern-themed paintings, as well as works from his travels to Canada, Jordan, Bali, and a number of European cities.

Sedona, Arizona artist Curt Walters has won The Artist of Distinction Award at the 3rd annual Quest for the West Art Show and Sale, held at the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Artist of Distinction Award, sponsored by the Western Art Society, is presented to the artist with the best body of work. During the Quest for the West’s inaugural show, Walters was awarded Best Overall Presentation, and the second year found him with a Victor Higgins Work of Distinction and the Patron’s Choice Award.

Curt Walters Heads East In a Quest for the West

Sedona, Arizona, artist Curt Walters is preparing to head East for the 3rd annual Quest for the West Art Show and Sale, held in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art.  Boasting more than 50 of America’s top Western artists, the show opens September 5, and runs through October 5, 2008.

Moments & Monuments:  The Plein Air and Studio Paintings of Curt Walters” is a rare retrospective of a living Master Artist’s work, presented by The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, located in Indianapolis, Indiana.  This special show is guest-curated by James Nottage, and began August 19th.  The official opening will coincide with the Friday, September 11 opening of the 4th annual Quest for the West exhibition.

Over the past decade, Sedona artist Curt Walters has become a phenomenon he only dared dream of as a struggling young painter.  As an encore to his record-setting win at this year’s Prix de West, Walters scored a new pair of accolades from the second annual Quest for the West Art Show and Sale at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

September Afternoon at Lake O’Hara” was the show’s big winner, given both the Victor Higgins Award of Distinction for the best individual work of the show, and the Patrons’ Choice Award, selected by the large body of collectors in attendance.  The awards were presented by John Vanausdall, president and CEO of the museum, at a dinner banquet held after the Saturday sale.  Walters said, “So many of my past awards come from Grand Canyon paintings, so it feels good to be recognized for my other subject matter.”
