Artists throughout history have turned to scenes right out their backdoor for inspiration. I was enticed by the fragrance and colors of the large profusion of rose blossoms along this fence line, in my own backyard, this past spring. Sometimes it is the simplest and most intimate of subjects which often become a compelling image. To paint a scene like this was particularly inviting after working on a large-scale studio work.
This painting was shown during the Gilcrease Show and Sale on April 15th, 2011.
