On my last trip to Spain, Tom and I and our artist buddies John and Terri Moyers headed north to the Pyrenees. We had much fun painting the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park in Aragon, Spain. We stayed a few days in the picturesque Pyrenean villages of Broto and Torla-Ordesa. These beautiful medieval villages are all located in Huesca province. The center of Broto is a bit of a maze, with a medieval church, Iglesia de San Pedro in the middle. There is a French influence in the architecture. The church tower doesn’t look too imposing in this painting, but when you stand in front of it you realize just how massive it is. I painted a bit to the north looking down stream so I could paint the village set in the valley against the mountain.
