A large portion of my art in the 1990’s was created in the coastal cities of California. I recall this time period with great fondness. My artistic goal in those days was to paint large scale canvases, en plein air. I found this view, of an old homestead, above Santa Barbara. The lush coastal foliage, the bright colors of the bougainvillea, and the terra cotta roofs set against the azure waters of the Pacific made for a stunning scene. When I look at this image I recall how much I enjoyed that time in my life.
